The Farmer Work Ethic

Day after day farmers tend to their land and livestock and put in an honest day’s work. There are no excuses and laziness is not allowed. They always have something that needs to get done and they seem to be some of the most positive people out there. They are relentless and vigilant in everything they do. What other choice do they have? If they aren’t working hard day in and day out then their crop and livestock could very well die. They get up early, go to work, work hard throughout the day, and do it all over again.

What if you had a farmer’s work in accomplishing everything you wanted in life? Think how truly powerful that idea is. Day in and day out you could make a difference and have a purpose in life. I think the Farmer Work Ethic is a really important concept and I think it boils down to a few core ideas.

First, do what you love. Farmers love what they do and it’s their reason for doing all the hard work they have to. Find something you love and drive full speed ahead trying to accomplish it. Don’t hold back and give it everything you’ve got.

Get up early in the morning and start each day off right. If you don’t think you’re a morning person then become one. Force yourself to be one. Think that if you don’t get up early your farm will die and your day will have been wasted. Like Benjamin Franklin once said, “Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.”

Farmers don’t have the luxury of procrastination. They can’t harvest their crops with an all-nighter and rush out a product. They have to put in time and effort every day to see the fruits of their labor. Know that in anything you want to accomplish you need to put in work every day to truly reap what you sow.

Even when you think there is nothing you have to do, there is always something. You can tend to your cattle a little more or plant some more seeds. Don’t let your lack of motivation keep you from making progress. Go find some motivation if you have to.

Life’s tough and every day is a struggle. It’s hard to see the big picture when you’re trying to accomplish your goals but know that like a farmer you must put in effort every single day. Don’t waste a single day and always keep pushing. A farmer will.
